This is the best investment piece for your spring wardrobe 🌸
Timelessly cool and very versatile .. the trench coat is the hero piece of the season
What is the best investment piece for your spring wardrobe? A trench coat! I remember once I was in the dressing room with a girlfriend, and she asked me “Is this coat waterproof?” And I looked at her and said “no — it’s a fashion piece.” Then we both had a good laugh! Of course, a trench coat can be practical too. The Orolay one I wore all winter long is a perfect example of that. While it’s not waterproof, it still worked in inclement weather if I layered cozy pieces under it. But, there are other options as well, including jackets that are meant to actually be a part of your outfit.
Today’s post is about spring trench coats that you can wear with everything, including a t-shirt and jeans, dresses and even leggings. I’m talking about flowy styles like this best-selling Theory one, classic styles like this new one, and faux leather ones that are a little edgier. This is the best investment piece for spring, hands down. Keep reading for the inside scoop on trench coats, some style board inspo, and some of my favorite picks for the season. Time to get ready for spring! 🌸
P.S. Did you know there’s a shopping app called ShopLTK? I post there regularly, and you can find my page here. Often, it’s exclusive content that you won’t find on the blog. Once a week, I share favorites under $100, as well as the Top 10 sellers on So Susie. You can check it out here! Moving ahead, I’ll be posting even more on my ShopLTK page — it’s easy to shop, and trust me, you can go down a rabbit hole. I’ve done it myself! 😉

Trench coat | Sweater | Denim | Tory Burch bucket bag | Sandals | Crazy expensive necklace
I love this lighter weight trench coat (I’m wearing it in the above photos). It’s actually more like a jacket, and when I spotted it at my local Nordstrom, I knew it was going to be good! It’s perfect with denim, and you can definitely wear it with a dress after our weather warms up a bit. If you’re already in warmer temps, lucky you!
Can you tell … I love trench coats!

I believe everyone should have a flowy trench in their lives 🙂 It’s an elegant way to add a little warmth to dresses, and the outfit possibilities are endless. My all time favorite is this one by Theory. Over the years, I’ve helped many friends and clients with it, and it’s basically the perfect trench. Yesterday, while shopping at Nordstrom, I noticed this one by Vince, and just this morning I spotted this satin one at Mango!
… Classic camel

Classic camel coats like the iconic Burberry trench and an affordable one like this are pieces you’ll have forever. I know Burberry coats are expensive, but I believe they’re worth every penny! Wear them dressed down with sneakers and a t-shirt, or over a special black dress for a chic nighttime outfit.
… Affordable but stylish

Some of my favorite trench coats are the more affordable ones, like the J.Crew Icon trench or the Orolay one I’ve been wearing non-stop. On the Nordstrom website, any jacket by Sam Edelman is a great choice, and also look at the brand Lauren by Ralph Lauren — this and this are both so good!
… Faux leather

Faux leather or real leather trench coats are always super chic. They add the perfect amount edge to every outfit, and they won’t be going out of style any time soon. If you want one investment piece for spring, this is it! For an affordable version, look at this one by Ellie Tahari, I’ve had my eye on it for awhile. I also love the Veda one above.
