Take your wardrobe to a completely new level! Part 2

Recently, someone asked me “how should I prioritize my purchases when (re)building a wardrobe?” What a great question! And, I quickly thanked her for the blog post topic (which I wrote about here). You see, what I learned over a decade of helping women one-on-one is that we often buy things that don’t actually make outfits. This got me thinking about the fact that building a wardrobe takes time. It starts with owning the right essentials, filling in what you need, and then of course, adding the fun pieces that really make it yours.

Today’s post is part 2 of a two-part series on how to build the perfect wardrobe. In other words, how to incorporate those trendy, stylish pieces that take your wardrobe to a completely new level. These are often the items we actually buy first because, after all, they’re way more fun to purchase! Keep reading for some new and exciting arrivals that pair perfectly with the essentials you hopefully already own. 🙂

10 Splurge items worth the investmentPart 1 & Part 2

How to make good, solid everyday outfits!

The essentials

Left: Open Edit blazer | Norma Kamali dress | Sunglasses | Middle: Gray coat, similar Frame coated denim | Gucci sandals | Chloe tote | Right: Vince sweater | Chloe Tote | Boots

My favorite staples I wear over and over again: Norma Kamali dress, Gucci sandals and the Vince cashmere sweater

Graphic tees

We all love a good graphic t-shirt, and they work magic on your outfits! Anine Bing are some of my favorites. I own three of them, and have worn them all non-stop for several years. You don’t need too many; just a couple that work with all the things you already own. Wear them under blazers, shirt jackets and denim jackets. My faves from Anine Bing include this, this and this, and below are some brand new ones that caught my eye!

Left: Green coat | Graphic t-shirt | Paige coated denim | Toteme boot | Naghedi tote | Baseball hat | Right: Mango coatigan | Anine Bing t-shirt | Gucci bag | White boot

Cool jackets

One can never have too many jackets!! They work over all your staples, and are truly the best investment pieces for your wardrobe. Pretty much any jacket you purchase will up your outfit game! I adore this Anine Bing camel wrap coat, and depending on the climate where you live, a fun jacket like this or this will make many cute outfits.

Left: Trench | Mother Dazzler jeans | Anine Bing t-shirt | Valentino mules | MZ Wallace bucket bag | Hoop earrings | Right: Camo jacket | ATM t-shirt | Mother denim | Sneakers | BB hat | Tote | Bracelet

Pretty blouses

If you’re looking for an update, adding pretty blouses is the way to go. You can wear them during the day for lunches or meetings, and then if you style them a little bit differently (maybe unbutton a little bit more or add a heel?), they can be perfect for a night out as well. I love Paige blouses for a night out, and of course this Frame one and Vince one are both amazing! Try one layered under a cozy cardigan for a more casual look, or  and under a blazer to feel a bit more dressed up.

Left: Alice & Olivia blouse | Frame ecru denim | Green bag | Trench coat | Sandals | Bracelet | Right: Denim jacket | Cami | Valentino bag | Gold sandals | Necklace

“Not-basic” shoes

Believe it or not, the two hottest shoe brands that hardly stay in stock are Amina Muddai and Mach & Mach. They flew off the shelves during the early days of the pandemic, and now their influence is everywhere. While most of us might not have the opportunity to wear these shoes, the point is that adding something fun that you just love will make you feel extra stylish and modern!

Anything navy

I love navy and so do many of you, but I usually don’t suggest adding it since I think it’s better to have a handful of black basics. But, if you’re covered in the black basics department, then adding navy is a great way to switch things up! Right now at Nordstrom, some of my favorite pieces are from Vince, and many are on sale, check it out here. My favorite way to style navy is with faded denim and any fun shoe. I’m partial to a neutral, but I really want to wear color, like this!

Left: Cinq A Sept jacket | Navy shell | White Mother denim | Sandal | YSL bag | Scarf | Necklace | Right: Veronica Beard top | Veronica Beard trouser | Pump | Jimmy Choo tote | Trench | Scarf

Stripes

I love anything with stripes! Stripes are timeless, and always remind me of French girl style. Make them look more modern by wearing a striped shirt with flare jeans and even a sweater over it. Whether it’s a sweater like this or a striped tee, you’ll have these pieces forever. There are so many great pieces I decided to share them below!
