3 Color trends that make the coolest outfits

On my recent shopping trip to NYC, I made it a point to pop into all my favorite stores, and some new ones too 😉 Since I’ve been in retail basically my whole life, I’m always so inspired by new arrivals, street style, and cool stores that are beautifully merchandized! A few that really stood out were the Gucci boutique in Soho (truly one of the best retail stores I’ve seen in a long time), Intermix, and Frame. When it comes to department stores, Saks Fifth Avenue was fantastic!

As for colors, between street style (it was New York Fashion Week) and shopping in-store, there were vibrant, wearable colors that caught my eye everywhere. Today’s post is about all the incredible finds I spotted while shopping in-store and online, and 3 color trends that make the coolest outfits. In case you’re wondering, the trends aren’t just black and white! Keep reading for some outfit inspo, as well as the designer bags and shoes (and their affordable cousins) that I think you’ll love. It’s all so good … get ready for Fall!

Color trend #1: Cobalt blue

This is one of the newest colors, and I couldn’t be more excited about it! I remember wearing this color in the early 90’s and feeling a little “extra” in it 😂 So, I decided to give it a try myself, and just today the J.Crew jacket arrived — and it fits perfectly! It looks amazing with black, as well as some shades of denim. I also love it combined with brown. Give it a try, it will liven up everything in your closet!

I’m in love with this houndstooth jacket. It sold out at Saks, but I found it here (runs big)

The western boot trend is everywhere, and I love this white one by Rag & Bone

I wrote a coated denim post (here), and this pair is a favorite

L’Agence makes some of my favorite shoes, and I adore this sandal — available in other colors here

#2 Brown: the color we can never get enough of!

Brown is one of those colors we see hints of every year, but then it quickly `sells out. But this year is different – it’s one of the first times I’m seeing it everywhere. At Frame they have an entire collection designed around the color “espresso” and it’s absolutely gorgeous. I love this puff sleeve sweater, this blouse and these best-selling trousers. It looks so pretty with any shade of blue, and of course black always works too.

I’m in love with this ruched sleeve sweater -i it comes in brown here, and other colors here. It’s a good one!

This matching set is gorgeous. Wear the cardigan and skirt together or separately — these are pieces you’ll have forever

Love this Kate Spade leopard dress, and these earrings work perfectly with it

#3 Lavender: the universal color that looks beautiful on everyone!

Recently, I’ve been seeing the colors lavender (or lilac) everywhere. This J.Crew shirt jacket arrived today, and it’s amazing. Same with this sweater, this handbag and this coat. Such an easy color to incorporate into your wardrobe, and it looks great with black, denim, white, écru and navy.

Love, love this new sweater, and it has a cool cutout in the back

You can’t go wrong with a lightweight jacket, and this color is gorgeous

Also love this Vince print blouse — so pretty with dark denim and neutral accessories
