Now is the time: 10 splurge items worth the investment (part 1)

… and some affordable options too!

It’s that time of year when we start seriously thinking about our fall wardrobes, and that often means purchasing some “splurge” items, like boots, coats and handbags. After helping thousands of women over the years, one thing I know is that some of us like to purchase fewer but higher quality items, and some of us prefer to buy more items but without the designer price points. It doesn’t really matter where you fall — the most important thing is to add pieces that have longevity, that you absolutely love, and that you’ll wear with everything ALL THE TIME!! Easier said than done, I know … even I make some buying mistakes along the way! So, which ones are really worth it?

Today’s post is Part 1 of 10 splurge items worth the investment. Part 2 of this post is coming next week with the other 5, so stay tuned! I own most of these splurge items, and I can tell you that I wear at least one piece DAILY — that’s what makes them worth the investment! I prefer to have fewer items that work with all my outfits, even if initially they cost a little more. If you’ve been following me for a while, you often see the same bags, shoes and jewelry over and over again, because they go with everything. To me, owning these pieces makes getting dressed easier (and faster), and gives me an elevated look. You really only need one per outfit 😉

What about lower-priced items? I’m often asked to share lower priced items, and here’s the deal. I believe in mixing high and low, and the $59 utility jacket and Schutz sandals are good examples of that concept. But I will only share affordable options that I would either purchase myself, have read about, or own. In other words, I’m picky, and very selective with what I share here on So Susie! You can trust that I’m always doing my best for you. Stay tuned for Part 2 of this post, coming next week. Cheers!

#1 Jewelry — specifically, my necklace stack 😉

Tan shirt – back in stock | Mother denim | Fendi bag | Schutz sandals | Bracelet | Necklaces: white beaded, pearl and pave disc

After wearing my beloved Poppy Finch necklace and Bony Levy chain every day for years, I decided it was time for an update. It took many months before landing on these three necklaces. Now you’ll see me wearing them every day for the next year (and likely longer)! I started with this Gorjana pave disc necklace. which is part of their fine jewelry collection. (And, I had a $100 gift card) I’ve received so many compliments, and I absolutely love it.

From there, I added this Gigi Clozeau white resin beaded necklace, and it’s the number one item people ask about. Finally, this Foundrae necklace from Twist (our amazing local jewelry shop) was a special gift, and it’s one of the nicer pieces I own. Since jewelry has the ability to elevate all your outfits, it’s definitely worth the splurge!

My everyday favorites

These cool dome rings, this new ring and necklace gifted by Child of Wild, and this tennis necklace — it’s amazing!

#2 Gucci everything: Belt, loafers, bucket bag and scarf

Grey wrap coat | Anine Bing t-shirt | Paige ecrú denim| Gucci scarf | Sandals

If you invest in classic, cool pieces, you’ll have them for years. This insta famous belt with the gold GG’s was my first purchase, and then when I was over it I sold it — with regrets, because now it’s back!! I replaced it with the tonal belt in this exact size, which is perfect because you can wear it with everything. The Gucci loafers and Horsebit sandals are super comfortable, and perfect all year around. Several years ago, I purchased this bucket bag in ivory, and I still wear it regularly. The scarf was a splurge two years ago, and after spending hours (no joke) in the boutique, I finally landed on the soft gray color — and have always been happy with it. I almost went with the black and would probably have loved that one too!

The Tory Burch camera bags are reminiscent of the Gucci camera bags, and the colors are really pretty. These Sam Edelman mules and loafers are amazing — I own the loafers and they’re very comfortable. For belts, you can’t go wrong with Rag & Bone or B-low the Belt. Finally, for a scarf option, there’s really no better one than this Nordstrom one that I take everywhere!

#3 Moncler puffers

Moncler jacket | Vuori joggers | Zella sweatshirt | Dior bag, similar | Rag & Bone sneakers

Moncler is a huge splurge, I know, and I was late to the game when I added this one last fall. No joke, I wore it every other day … all the way until May! It went on every airplane trip, and because it’s thin you can even tie it around your waist if you get too hot. I went with a size small so I could layer a hoodie like this one under it. It gives it a little update! Now I have my eye on this ivory one. I can just see a black hoodie/black jean combo and Gucci loafers being an everyday, run-errands outfit.

While shopping in NYC I spotted this one by Mackage — LOVE! I also like the brand Bernardo for Moncler-inspired puffer coats.

#4 Stylish sneakers

Reiss leather jacket | Mother Dazzler jeans | Golden Goose Ballstar sneakers | Hoodie, similar | Balenciaga tote

I love, love, love sneakers, and thank goodness they’re still trendy and in style! I spotted everyone wearing them with everything from dresses to jeans in both London and NYC. These GG Ballstar sneakers are my new favorites, available in several variations here. I also love Veja, and these cool Alexander McQueen ones too.

I spotted these Sam Edelmans while shopping in NYC over the weekend, and they instantly reminded me of the GG ones I’m wearing in the above photo. Grab them now before they sell out!

#5 Veronica Beard blazers

Veronica Beard blazer | Frame denim | Loeffler Randall clutch | ATM t-shirt | Herringbone necklace | Diamond necklace | Sandals This blazer is hands down an all-time favorite. The fit is amazing, it looks like a designer piece, and it works with everything from a slip dress like this Vince one to denim and sneakers on the weekend. The hidden zipper allows you to add the coolest dickeys, which immediately switches up the look. Several months ago, VB offered gold or silver buttons as an option. Now you can purchase black/gold, black/silver, navy/gold or navy/silver. So clever! I have the black/silver and navy/gold ones. Some favorite dickey options that are super versatile include this gray hoodie, this camel hoodie and this leather one — all so cool.

The brand Generation Love is amazing — I tried it on in NYC and find their pieces to run small FYI

Thank you for reading, and don’t miss Part 2, coming next week! xx
