Fashion insiders all agree on this one thing …
We all love new arrivals — and so do many of you!
Back in pre-pandemic days, when I was working at Nordstrom as a Stylist, I always arrived before my first appointment in order to “make the rounds.” Every day, I would wander through the entire store stopping by most every department to see what was new. Of course, I always wanted to know what was selling, and to learn any product knowledge I could! It reminded me of my time as an Interim Store Manager where store managers would greet salespeople and give high fives when deserved 👍 We would joke around, because sometimes they’d say “we all agree you won’t like what we got in today …” You see, they knew the kinds of things I was looking for: cool, stylish pieces that were going to fly out the door.
In those days, every stylist would grab a piece or two to have in their dressing rooms whenever a new collection would arrive, or even when we would just re-stock. Meanwhile we’d be busy back in our rooms creating the most stylish outfits for our client appointments 😊 Of course, this is still happening in many stores, but things have definitely changed a bit.
These days, I’m still making the “rounds,” except now I’m doing it online and I have so much more product at my fingertips! I still have my go-to’s, like Nordstrom, Revolve, Intermix, J.Crew etc, and I still get excited when I spot new arrivals that I love or see pieces that will come together easily. Today’s post is about some of the new things I’ve spotted lately — I hope you like it!
Shades of green: we all agree it’s still trending!
Green is still trending, and yesterday I walked into Banana Republic and immediately spotted this dress. Of course it was the only one in the store, so I quickly ordered my size online. Then I spotted this one in the prettiest shade of dark olive — perfect to transition into early fall. My conclusion? Any shade of green is still going strong! Whether you are looking for an oversized poplin shirt like this, or a dress, the color is still very very popular.
We all agree that neutral colors are always sophisticated, and they truly are the building blocks of every wardrobe. Veronica Beard just added their best-selling scuba Miller Dickey jacket in acorn, and I noticed Cinq a Sept also added a neutral color in their top seller Khloe jacket an so did Rag & Bone. Mix these gorgeous colors with white, denim and black, and you’ll have outfits for days that look really elevated.
Lilac, lavender, orchid … it’s everywhere!
I also mentioned yesterday how I’m seeing many things in this pretty shade of lavender, and while everyone has a different name for this color, it’s the same shade with varying intensities. It’s so pretty with white, écru, black and darker denim! Check out this Vince sweater, this J.Crew slipdress and matching cardigan. Here are a few more things I absolutely love.
Lately I’m seeing many metallic handbags and shoes, it’s SO exciting! First of all, they basically work with everything you already own. If you like gold like I do, then having a sparkly gold sandal peeking out of any jean (wide-leg) or trouser is so chic! And, metallic accessories go with everything.
Wide-leg jeans and denim jackets
As I mentioned in yesterday’s newsletter, wide-leg jeans are everywhere, and I think they’re the biggest update we can all make when it comes to buying denim. There are varying styles, including crop styles and really full leg versions, and they’re all great depending on your body shape. Below are the ones I know are best sellers!
