I think it’s safe to say that if you’re reading this, and hanging out with me in this little corner of the internet, then you probably love clothes as much as I do! 😊 Sometimes it’s hard to navigate the world of online shopping, find things we love AND put all the outfits together. This is why we should all start with the essentials — in other words, the items that basically make every outfit! For example, make sure you have clean, well-fitting white denim, because you’ll wear it over and over again. And, of course, a great denim jacket — it’s the one piece you need in the evening when the temperature cools down. Once all the basics are covered, then you can layer in all the other fun things. To make it easy for you, I’ve put together the definitive 10 piece summer capsule: it’s all you need!
As you likely know, Nordstrom is always my go-to for most everything. They have the best selection of all my stylish favorites, and after working there for a lifetime (29 years to be exact), I kind of know my way around the store 😉 The best part is that I’ve personally tested almost all these items, and I only recommend things that are really good. #1 Rails is the quintessential brand — and I love it!

Rails is the perfect brand for easy summer dresses, and lately everything in their collections is looking SO good! I love the dress I’m wearing in the photo, and if you like gingham, check out this top similar to the dress above. Rails summer tops are also really great, and the Ellis gauze shirt is a top-seller. It’s really versatile, and perfect for warmer weather.

#2 The plain white tee
A while back, I posted this Reels Video, and I can’t begin to tell you how many messages I got — even I was surprised! But it’s clear that everyone is looking for the perfect white tee. My personal favorite is the ATM Schoolboy tee — I wear it ALL THE TIME. I also wear this one by Frame and like it too, but the ATM one is still usually my first choice. For an affordable option, check out this one by Madewell, it’s also a top seller. If you need a tank, this is a good one by Michael Stars and it’s one size fits all.
#3 Fresh White denim

White denim is one of the most important pieces of your summer capsule. Once you find a pair you love, wear them with everything! Yes, they might get a little dirty, but that’s ok. #4 A great swimsuit!

Thank goodness one piece swimsuits are so stylish! Everyone looks great in them, and if you have a coverup you love, even better! I love this ombre swimsuit swimsuit by Tommy Bahama, and it also comes in a blue version. Other favorites include this one by Camilla and this best seller under $100. For fun coverup options, I love this and this.

#5 Pretty summery dresses
Since 2022 is shaping up to be the year of the dress, it makes sense to find a few you love. Paige is an all time favorite brand, and the dress I’m wearing above by Vince is also a good one. Check out this and this — all so pretty and feminine!
#6 The summer outfit combo of the moment: White blouse & Faded denim

Faded denim and pretty white shirts continue to be the perfect outfit combo for summer. Last spring, while visiting LA, I noticed everyone wearing this “uniform,” and recently when I did a little “blog research,” faded denim was ALL I saw in the denim section. Levi’s (like I’m wearing above) are a great option for under $100, and of course I still love Mother Denim — look at this. And these by Frame are perfect for summer!
#7 Farm Rio tops
Farm Rio is a Brazilian brand known for bright printed tops and dresses, and they’re just so happy 🙂 This solid dress has been one of the hottest around. After I shared in this video, so many of you texted me saying how excited you were when it arrived on your doorstep! Check out the tops below — super cute with summer jeans or shorts.
#8 Denim shorts
It’s pretty easy to buy denim shorts online — if you stick to the AGOLDE Parker, Mother Tomcat, Paige Dani and Margot, you just can’t go wrong. Everyone who wears shorts loves these and I’m hoping you will too … if you’re a shorts person!
#9 Non-jean options

Finding some non-jean options when the weather is warm is a nice alternative to denim. This $59 pant by Open Edit has been a winner (I sized up) and I also love Paige Christy and Carly, and this Hudson drawstring version. If you’re looking for linen, this one is a great option.
