Don’t know what to wear? Try this!

How often do you stand in your closet and think you have nothing to wear … yet you have a closet full of clothes? This happens to me more often than I’d like, and even more so when I’m busy. Over the years, what I’ve found is twofold. One is that you could be missing an important piece or two — like a neutral shoe or an accessory. But more often than not, many of us actually already have the pieces, but we just don’t know how to put them all together so we look and feel our best.

I think it’s safe to say that many of us want easy outfit combos. We want to confidently throw on a great outfit every morning, without having to think too much about it. Accomplishing this can be tricky, especially if you like shopping and tend to get sidetracked 😉 Who hasn’t experienced finding a cool new “something” and not really knowing how to wear it — but you buy it anyway? After I wrote about essentials here, many of you wanted to know how to make more outfits with what you already own … so in today’s post I’m sharing with you a few style tricks that will help with easy outfit-making. We’re talking simple concepts, like wearing a matching top and jacket, or matching your accessories. You’ll find that as long as you own these essentials, the outfit possibilities are endless! Keep reading to see my brand new style boards using three easy tips and tricks.

I love finding inspo on the internet, and while these fashion girls/celebs are young and many of us won’t be wearing crop tops (!!), we can still take color cues from them and try similar combos!

Tip 1: Match your top and jacket

Left: Veronica Beard jacket | Cream cami | Hudson trousers | Veronica Beard skirt | Earrings | YSL tote | Denim jacket | Sneakers | Sandals | Right: BlankNYC jacket | Burberry scarf | Paige knit top ivory and camel | Straw bag | Gucci sandal | Schutz sandal | White jeans | Blue jeans | Earrings

An easy way to make many outfits is to match your tops to your jackets. This trick actually works with every kind of jacket. For example, the camel jacket and short sleeve sweater combo above looks amazing with faded denim, as well as black, écru or gray denim. If you’re dressing up, just wear a black pant like this Vince favorite, or this brand new Frame style that’s slimmer fitting (and a little sexy) depending on how it’s styled. Take the same concept and wear a black jacket and black tee with skirts, faded denim … you get the idea!

Tip 2: Match your top and bottom

Left: Veronica Beard blazer | ATM tee | Paige denim | Green earrings | Valentino earrings | Metallic sandals | White sandals | Chloe tote | Green polo | Right: Khaki trench | Blue shirt | Blue jeans | Earrings | Scarf | Stripe sweater | YSL bag | Sandals

If you pair a matching top and bottom, then any jacket will work and you’ll have outfits for days. The combos can be black/black, cream/écru, white/white or gray/gray. A silky black blouse is one of my favorite things to wear (I love this one). It works beautifully with mostly everything, and if you happen to love black, it’s an easy go-to when you’re getting dressed up. Easy, quick and elegant!

Tip 3: Match your top and shoes

There’s a secret style tip everyone should know! What is it?  Match your shoes to your top, just like I did in the photo above. This little tip is SO EASY — and it always elevates your outfit … always. Wear a camel shoe/camel sweater combo, or gray shoe/gray sweater combo — you’ll see what I mean!

Finish with a cool assortment of accessories that work together!

Neutral accessories are the perfect finishing touch to every outfit. It helps if you have a go-to bag/shoe combo, or a bag/belt combo, or a scarf/bag/shoe combo. I love any accessory in a rich saddle brown as well as a lighter beige color, and of course black — but that goes without saying 😉 Play around with these combinations and you’ll have several easy outfits at your fingertips. And as always, message me with questions — I’m always happy to help!
