Must read: 8 white essentials that always work!

Nothing feels more like spring (and summer) than a clean palette of all-white essentials! Whether it’s a simple white shirt or a head-to-toe white outfit, you can’t go wrong with this classic spring color. Since many of us are buying more thoughtfully these days, we want to make sure the pieces we do purchase have longevity and can be worn multiple ways. White never, ever goes out of style!

Today on the blog, I’m talking about 8 white essentials that always work. You’ll live in them all spring and summer … and beyond. While you likely already own these key pieces, sometimes they need a little refresh! I replace white jeans and white tees every year since they are some of the most worn pieces in my wardrobe. Here’s a recap, along with some new favorite finds to consider.

But first … Nordstrom is price matching many great items … check it out! We’re talking brand-new, in-season, amazing items we ALL need … everything from Frame, Cinq á Sept and Rag & Bone to Mother Denim. This is my favorite kind of sale, and it’s the perfect time to grab any spring pieces you have your eye on!

And just this morning … Paige is 25% off sitewide — wow! Look at Cindy jeans, Christy pants for a non-jean option, these gorgeous blouses and this sandal and these dresses ( like this and this). Just in time for warmer days ahead! ☀️

#1 White jeans

In my opinion, white jeans are the key to making cute spring outfits. Yes, it can be tricky to find the right ones, but when you do I’m certain you’ll wear them all the time. Lately I’ve been wearing the Mother Hustler and AG Mari non-stop, and I’ve also tried the Paige Cindy, the Mother Dazzler and these by Frame. Check out this new wide-leg style by Paige which has already sold out at Nordstrom. Don’t forget your thong 😉

#2 Pretty white tops

Ganni white shirt | Levi’s Icon Wedgie | Jimmy Choo sandals | Poppy Finch necklace

This year, there are many pretty white tops, like this puff sleeved style I’m wearing above. There’s also this Rails one, and this one too. Add a couple to your collection — it’s a nice update to all your spring basics. Last year, this style by Veronica Beard kept selling out and now it’s back in stock here and here. It’s a good one!

#3 White Dresses

Anthropologie eyelet dress | Balenciaga Bistro tote | Similar pointy toe pumps

White dresses are another spring and summer favorite. The accessorizing options are plentiful, and pretty much any sandal works, from a gorgeous caramel one like this to a fun color jelly style like this. Add a cool straw or canvas bag and a cute pair of sunnies to finish off the look. I just ordered this pretty eyelet one which I’m hoping to wear all season, and this Banana Republic gauze one is really easy for warm summer days. I also LOVE this one by Rails … the options are endless! P.S. I noticed the white dress above is sold out online, but I just spotted it yesterday in an Anthropologie store. Also, in case you’re wondering, I used these Nippies for a bra option:)

#4 Sweaters

Lightweight sweaters always come in handy for spring. For another option, try one tied over your shoulder for extra warmth. I have one like this, and wear it over slip dresses or any time I’m cold. You’ll love this new one from J.Crew — try it!

#5 White sneakers

Left: Madewell denim jacket | Vuori joggers | Everlane short sleeve tee | Veja V-10 | Right: Allsaints leather jacket | Mother denim | Golden Goose sneakers | Givenchy bag

White sneakers are a year-round staple, and go with everything from casual dresses to faded blue jeans to joggers. Veja and Golden Goose are favorites, but also consider anything from Paul Green, as well as this reasonably priced pair from Sam Edelman. Also, I recently wrote about the “it” sneakers by Alexander McQueen. I have them and find them comfortable, but full disclosure, some think they’re uncomfortable. So, if you have sensitive feet, they’re probably a style you should skip. However, many people have told me they broke them in and now they love them!

#6 White jackets

Cinq á Sept blazer | Mother denim | Balenciaga crossbody bag | Prada pumps

White jackets are very versatile; try a blazer like this favorite Cinq á Sept, which happens to be on sale right now. I love this summer weight one at Paige, and this new ecrù denim jacket by Rails is a good one too. Here are a few options I think you might like!

#7 White tees & tanks

Michael Stars tank | J.Crew sweater over shoulders | Mother flare jeans | Black mules similar

This is probably the number one item that needs replacing more than any others. Between stains and tiny little holes, our t-shirts get lots of use. My top two favorite tees are the ATM schoolboy t-shirt, and this one by Frame. I know they’re a little spendy, but they’re worth the splurge! For tanks, this Michael Stars one is great, and so is this one at Banana. These tanks by AGOLDE always sell out too!

#8 cotton shirts

Blank NYC faux leather blazer | Frank & Eileen white shirt | Paige Hoxton skinny | Mansur bag | Brinker & Eliza bracelet

Classic white shirts are super versatile; look for ones that are slightly oversized and not too perfect. This one by Frank & Eileen I’ve worn non-stop, and have found it to work for all seasons. You’ll likely love the Kayla oversized shirts by Citizen of Humanity, and this gauze one by Rails is a top seller — perfect to tie over a slipdress for a more casual look. Find one you love, and you’ll be able to wear it with almost everything you own!

Thank you for reading! xx
