Fashion insiders all agree on this one thing …

We all love new arrivals — and so do many of you!

Back in pre-pandemic days, when I was working as a Nordstrom Stylist, I always arrived before my first appointment in order to “make the rounds.” Every day, I would wander through the entire store stopping by most every department to see what was new. I always wanted to know what was selling, and to learn any product knowledge I could. It reminded me of my time as an Interim Store Manager where store managers would greet salespeople and give high fives where it was deserved! Those days are long gone, but I appreciated being in my element and knowing pretty much everyone in the store. We would joke because sometimes they’d say “you won’t like what we got in today …” You see, they knew the kinds of things I was looking for: cool, stylish pieces that were going to fly out the door.

In those days, every stylist would grab a piece or two to have in their dressing rooms whenever a new collection would arrive, or even when we would just re-stock. Meanwhile we’d be busy back in our rooms creating the coolest outfits for our client appointments 😊 Of course, this is still happening in many stores, but things have definitely changed a bit.

These days, I’m still making the “rounds,” except now I’m doing it online and I have so much more product at my fingertips. I still have my go-to’s like Nordstrom, Revolve, Intermix, J.Crew etc, and I still get excited when I spot new arrivals that I love or see pieces that will make stylish outfits. Today’s post is about the brands or stores where I’ve spotted some great pieces lately — I hope you like it!

Veronica Beard

Veronica Beard has been a favorite brand for years. Their designs just keep getting better, and their stores are like little jewel boxes with each one individually designed. I was so fortunate to attend an exclusive Nordstrom event several years ago, and listened to the two Veronicas share their story (check it out here). The Scuba Dickey jacket is their signature piece, with the clever hidden zippers allowing the dickeys to be zipped in. Since then, the Miller Dickey Jacket has surpassed the Scuba to become the top seller. But it doesn’t stop there — the dresses are incredible, the pants have a flattering fit (you’ll love this one and this one). Of course, pretty much every blazer is amazing.

Paige denim

Paige Denim is one of those brands that continually amazes me. Though it’s best known for jeans that are flattering on everyone, Paige has evolved into a collection that includes super cool and stylish shoes, dresses and gorgeous, sexy tops. Currently, the jean that everyone is loving is the “Cindy,” a slim straight leg jean that is a top seller and fits pretty much everyone — see all the washes here.

Anine Bing

Anine Bing is such a cool brand! The store’s aesthetic is so understated, and the collection is made up of “luxurious staples, wardrobe basics and statement pieces that are current and timeless.” Anine Bing lives in LA with her husband and kids, and her personal style is an absolute favorite. Several years ago, I had the opportunity to listen to her present at an LA event right before the pandemic. Many of you know how much I love her graphic tees, but other pieces like the Dylan coat and Kaia blazer are great investments worth considering for your closet!

Every University tee and sweatshirt, the Dylan coat and this sweater!

Frame

Frame denim is a classic denim brand that nails it every time. Why do some classic denim brands truly withstand the test of time? Because the fit is completely dialed in, meaning it’s consistent and reliable. These brands stick to easy to wear basics, and no matter your price point, there’s a pair of jeans for everyone. But, there’s also another reason: the brand I’m talking about here also has a collection of great t-shirts, stylish going-out tops, and jackets that all pair perfectly with denim. I love so many pieces from this collection, it’s hard to pick a favorite — so I’m going to share with you my very top choices.

L’Agence

L’Agence is an LA brand that “embodies the Los Angeles effortless lifestyle with an understated Parisian influence.” This is another collection that arrives at Nordstrom and quickly sells out. The Kenzie blazer is a favorite, and so are the jeans and denim jackets. Their shoe collection is also amazing, and it hardly stays in stock. This store on Melrose Avenue was a favorite when I visited several months ago, and this tweed shoe and bootie caught my eye. Just today I decided to splurge on this tweed blazer in the color midnight — LOVE!

J.Crew

I make the online “rounds” regularly, and right now I’m tapping my fingers waiting for new arrivals! I always look for specific items at J.Crew like cashmere sweaters, outerwear and blazers, and of course everything from the swim shop. Currently this best-selling cardigan is in-stock (the camel is on back order). But, since I’ve added this light gray cardigan to my own collection, I thought you might like to see another styling idea — even though I just made a style board in this post!
