Try this style trick … I promise it works!
Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time trying on all kinds of outfit combos. I know, it sounds a little silly, but you know what? It’s kind of fun and I love sharing my finds with all of you! Try this style trick, because taking mirror selfies really does work! There’s something about looking at yourself in a mirror vs looking at a photo that helps you see more clearly whether your outfit makes sense.
When should you take a mirror selfie?
If you have an important event, or are packing for a trip, or just want to check your outfit before heading out … mirror selfies always help when it’s time to make final outfit decisions. And I must admit, until I started this little Instagram and blog journey, I NEVER dreamed I would be taking photos of myself ALL THE TIME 😂
These photos are not perfectly edited, and not perfectly posed or put together, but they’re definitely real life. A little messy, a little imperfect … which is sometimes how we feel in the morning! I try and take the photos when I’m showered and have makeup on because I feel better that way, and that helps the clothes look good too. After a selfie, I realize there are some combinations that don’t go well together, and a few things may even get returned after reviewing the photos. Try this style trick … I promise it works! Don’t worry, no one will see you 😉

These coated jeans are really cool, and the color is amazing and different (I sized down and had mine hemmed). And I love them paired with ivory. This sweater is really cute and SO well-priced! The J.Crew Juliette cardigan might be an all-time favorite (I’ve written about it a lot), and the camel color is a great shade. I love this cool black print scarf by AllSaints, it’s an easy way to add a little pattern and warmth at the same time! I’m loving red more than ever right now, and these two best-sellers are really easy to wear! This $79 cashmere sweater is the one I’ve been going on and on about (check out this post to read more). Alice & Olivia has some of the prettiest pieces right now — notice the sleeve detail on this one!

The Blank NYC faux leather blazer is a good one — the version I’m wearing above has a sheen to it, it almost looks like velvet. It’s well-priced and would look amazing paired with a silk cami, jeans and party shoes. This blazer will help you make many different outfits, and it’s super flattering too.

Love this blazer so much, and it works easily with distressed denim and boots. It runs a little roomy, so I suggest going down a size if you’re in-between two. The Aquatalia weatherproof boots are faves. I wore mine all day today — it was pouring here in Portland and my feet stayed dry!

#8 Faux leather puffer

This BB Dakota faux leather puffer is such a deal, and it’s the perfect way to try out a trend but not invest too much money. Both colors are amazing. Style trick: I’d layer a hoodie under for extra warmth (and a cool-girl look) and wear clogs, sneakers or boots — so cute!

This sweater is so elegant, and you all asked many questions about the sleeve length (which was way too long for me). The tailor did a wonderful job of shortening the sleeves from the shoulder. And, you’ll wear it through the rest of fall and into the holidays — it’s that good!

I’ve talked so much about this Vince silk blouse — I’ve had mine for several seasons. It always works … for business, casual lunch or a night out — this is a good one. For reference, I’m wearing a small. This one runs a little on the slim side!

Ohhh how I love this Vince slipdress. I can’t think of a more versatile dress! Also, I’m often asked about undergarments — yes I wear Spanx (!!) and the Wacoal Red Carpet bra is the best strapless around. And, I have never worn this dress alone — always with something over it, like a cashmere sweater over the shoulders or a leather jacket. In addition, this gorgeous all cashmere cardigan by Vince is a great option. This is an incredible sweater!

I like this dark wash denim jacket and at first I wasn’t quite sure how to wear it, but decided to try a black/blue combo mixed with a neutral. I love this combination so much that I used the outfit for a photo shoot!
