Every September as the season starts to change, we find ourselves in a shoe quandary! Summer sandals no longer feel right, but we’re not quite ready for full-on boots — and this leaves many of us, including myself, unsure about which shoes to wear. We need an “in-between” shoe, one that transitions easily from summer to fall … think sneakers, mules and loafers (and even booties) that work now, and will again later.

Every year, I like to update my boot collection with a new bootie, and the one pictured below is arriving any day. The color is new and versatile, the shape feels fresh, and the heel height is perfect! I found a few others for you that are also worth sharing. Grab your boots early in the season, as this allows for a longer wearing time 🙂

#2 Sneakers
For the last couple of years, I’ve lived in sneakers and mules. They’re not only stylish (a must in my book!) but they’re practical too. In other words, they work when it’s raining — especially Golden Goose, since they’re a little distressed. I also love Veja, and these Sam Edelmans are a great option for a reasonable price point. For a big splurge, look at these or these!

#3 Loafers
Pretty much the perfect shoe to wear when transitioning seasons — spring or fall. I love this iconic Gucci mule — it’s a splurge, but you’ll wear it on repeat. If you want to get the look for less, check out this one, which is Gucci-inspired. Loafers are everywhere this fall, and of course the Gucci version is great and so is this Sam Edelman (also Gucci inspired). If you want an in-between price, check out this one by Tory Burch. All so easy to wear!

#5 OTK boots
One of my favorite ways to wear OTK (over-the-knee) boots is with dresses. They’re super comfortable, and they add a little warmth in cooler weather. Stuart Weitzman is a favorite brand, and there are heel height options here. The Marc Fisher ones I’m wearing in the opening photo are so well priced — I highly recommend them!

#6 Strappy Sandals
Strappy sandals are a year round staple. I know they aren’t practical for rainy or snowy days, but the rest of the time, they work 🙂 Having one or two neutral pairs covers many outfits, and they work nicely with dresses and denim. Right now, I’m loving metallics like this and this, as well as strappy styles like this pair and this pair.

Talk about the cool-girl shoe to own for Fall 2021! These have been on runways everywhere, from Gucci to Hermés. And not only are they super stylish, but I can’t think of a more practical shoe! I like these by Veronica Beard, these Gucci ones (so cool), and these by Tory Burch.
