Susie’s top 10 picks: Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

How to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale like a pro!

Soft Cashmere Sweaters

Nordstrom cashmere sweater | Mother “Weekender” denim | White bootie | Givenchy bag

Probably one of the top sale items to purchase is this Nordstrom cashmere sweater for $69.90! I own it in several colors and wear it in winter almost like a t-shirt. This Vince is a recent purchase on the Anniversary Sale, and it also comes in several colors. It works nicely with white denim now and with darker denim in the fall. Lastly, a good cashmere hoodie is a key layering piece under jackets and puffer coats or vests. This one in gray is perfect. All of these are currently in stock, so grab them while you can!

Cool Leather jackets

Allsaints “Dalby” leather jacket – not on sale | Vince slim pants | J.Crew cashmere tee | Givenchy bag | Boots, similar

Another staple you’ll be glad you scored on sale. Leather jackets are one of those important pieces you need to have in your closet! The ones by AllSaints run a tiny bit small, but the prices are really good for the quality, and the color selection is great. I just purchased the blush one and can’t wait to start wearing it! The suede style has been a favorite for several years, and the caramel color works with everything: all white, all black and any denim wash.

Great Denim

Halogen cardigan, newer version here that’s few inches shorter | Frame Le High straight denim, similar | Prada shoes | Lace trim cami

The denim is really good this year, and the brands to watch are Frame, Mother, Paige and AG. The AG prima is a top seller, and so is the Farrah skinny. Below are the favorites that I personally own and highly recommend. Please reach out with any questions about denim — I’m always happy to help 🙂

Jewelry I’m contemplating!

I usually treat myself to one special jewelry item that’s on sale, and I’m carefully considering which one will be this year’s treat! Here are the 3 pieces that are in the running.

OTK boots

Faux leather puffer, similar | Marc Fisher OTK boots

Over the knee boots are so chic and stylish, and add the perfect cool touch to many outfits. This year on the Nordstrom Sale, I love the three that are available. If you think you’ll wear them all the time, go for one of the two by Stuart Weitzman, and if you aren’t sure, start with the Marc Fishers. Style them with sweater dresses, or any fall shorter dress, or over denim. I had to include shorter black booties – a must for everyone! This La Canadiene is a good one – lightweight (sounds funny I know) and the platform gives height without feeling like it. This Tory Burch is a new addition ( I didn’t see it before) and Aquatalia makes a beautiful boot that’s water resistant – so good!

Favorite ankle black boots

The cami that looks expensive — but it’s $28.90!

J.Crew sweater blazer | Halogen cami | Gucci bag

This inexpensive, bra-friendly cami is one of my favorites! It looks way more expensive than it is, and is the perfect layering piece — try both colors!

Tried and true basics

Vince silk. blouse | Vince slim pant | Prada red shoes, similar | Bag

These are the regular priced basics that work most seasons, and for most everyone! Personal favorites include this Vince pant (one of my top choices in the entire store), and I suggest it to almost all my clients. I also think a classic black blouse like the Vince one I’m wearing above is a must for everyone’s closet (assuming black works with your skin tone). Black always looks elegant and polished! And you can never go wrong with black on black 😉

Beauty tools you’ve been thinking about

This is a great time to splurge on a device that you’ve been thinking about for awhile. I purchased the GloPro microneedling device last year, and am still regularly using it and loving the results. New this year is the NuFace device, and I’ve heard from trusted sources that it really does work — with consistency! This compact hair dryer is currently in my shopping cart since a travel sized one comes in handy.

Can’t live without these beauty faves!

I can’t impress upon you enough how AMAZING this Kiehl’s lotion is! It’s one of my personal favorites — a  “can’t-live-without” beauty item. It’s unscented, so it doesn’t compete with your fragrance, and it leaves a nice glimmer on your body. Try it! I also grabbed these Diptyque candles — they’re my personal favorites and I buy them every year. Silk pillowcases are luxurious and these only go on sale now, and they really work — they’re great for your hair and skin. Also, this Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream set is a good value. And finally, Elemis Cleansing Balm is another favorite and if you haven’t tried a cleansing balm before, now’s your chance — it even doubles as a mask! And check out Nécessaire products, they’re so good!

  1. Hi Susie,
Thank you for always providing such organized posts! They have helped me through a few N Sales, holiday shopping, and Black Fridays.

I had a question re: denim when it comes to rise. My midsection/hips are a little wider than my waist. I currently wear high waist re/done jeans that I love, but find high waist tends to make my stomach push out a bit. But, I’m worried mid rise might result in a muffin top effect. Do you have any recommendations?

    Thank you,
    Sam

    1. Hi Sam, I have the same issue and have found too high shows my tummy but try 9-10 inch that seems to work better. The Re-done are super cool but most are too high:)
