This summer is all about re-openings, re-scheduled events that are finally happening, basking in the sunny weather, and yes, a little partying too! A recent article in Town & Country, “The Case for Wearing Exclusively Bright Colors This Summer,” refers to the next few months as Shot Girl Summer (read what that means here).😉  I don’t know about you, but I’m SO ready for it!

Color, color, color

Just the other day I was walking through Zara (it’s part of my blog research for trend spotting), and I noticed something I haven’t seen in years: color was everywhere! This will be the biggest trend of the summer. Goodbye neutrals, hello pretty, bright colors in every shade you can imagine! Look for yellows, hot pinks, greens — you name it. Even Emily, who usually goes for creams and beiges, was holding up brightly colored dresses saying “Mom, look at this!” She convinced me to get this cute halter dress and this printed skirt for myself, and this dress for her.

By the way, this isn’t just a Zara trend. The high-end designers jumped in as well: Versace has a sea-inspired collection, Fendi featured monochromatic sky blue pieces, and Miu Miu paired marigold yellow with red, orange and caramel. So, I decided to join in the fun and round up 5 new outfit ideas that are perfect for all your summer festivities. All are bright, pretty and very very colorful 🙂 I hope you find a thing or two you love!

#1 Swimsuit + denim shorts

Brightly colored one-piece swimsuits are having a moment right now, and this could be part of the “swimwear boom” I read about. Talk about versatile — you could almost consider it to be like a bodysuit! For instance, you can throw a coverup over your one-piece to lounge around the pool, or add a faded denim short to go grab lunch. #2 Denim jacket + bright colored skirt

L’Agence makes my favorite denim jacket because it fits beautifully and comes in several washes. I also like this Rag & Bone skirt — it comes in the prettiest shade of yellow! Even I am tempted to add a skirt, even though I dismissed skirts in this post 🙂 We can change our minds, right?

#3 Farm Rio: the Brazilian brand known for brights

Farm Rio is everywhere this season: Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Anthropologie, Intermix — the list goes on. Think tropical, bright prints on dresses, skirts and statement tops. They’re perfect for any warm summer day and ideal for an upcoming vacation!

Faded denim and white denim are the must-haves this summer. I love them paired with bright colors, like this pink L’Agence silk cami. Or, try your denim with a white statement blouse, and add color with a fun bag or shoe (check this LA outfit post for other ideas).

#5 Blazer + Slipdresses

Probably my favorite combo right now is any dress with a casual linen blazer like this best-seller from J.Crew — it’s so good! I recently purchased it myself and was wearing in this Reels Instagram Video. Try throwing on a blazer instead of a cardigan for cooler summer nights. So chic!
