The LA uniform I saw everywhere — get the look!
This week I ate, shopped, ate some more and drank my way through LA — and LOVED every minute of it! While thinking about our fun lunch at Elephante, trend shopping on Melrose, and a truly memorable dinner at Craig’s (thanks to Craig himself hanging out with us), I suddenly realized all the cool LA girls were wearing … a uniform! Yep, they all had some version of this outfit: faded high-waisted denim, pretty white tops, block heel/square toe neutral sandals, and a posh designer handbag (everything from YSL to Chanel to Gucci). The interesting thing about this outfit is it’s the obvious go-to for day, but it was also the outfit of choice at all the “it” restaurants we tried for dinner. During cocktails at Scopa and Tesse, we noticed this combo time and time again, and everyone looked stylish and summery!
How do you get this look? Easy! Since many of us already own faded denim, just find a pretty white top, add neutral sandals and a handbag you love, and it will be the perfect “uniform” to wear all summer long!

Faded High-Waisted Denim
Right now, faded denim is THE wash to own! It looks good with everything, and if you’ve been following me for awhile, you now I love faded denim any time of year. My number #1 favorite style is probably this Mother in the wash “I Confess” — it’s part of the superior denim line at Mother, and it doesn’t have a lot of stretch, but it does loosen up (and then never wash them!). Make sure if you’re between sizes to go down. Don’t wait — these are good!
Pretty White Tops
Talk about an item that’s worth every penny! White tops are always in style, so which ever ones you choose, you’ll love them forever! In this case, the “uniform” is with an actual top, not a t-shirt.
Block Heel/Square Toe Neutral Sandals
This is another wardrobe staple that goes with everything. I have worn these sandals over and over again, and still consider them to be among my all-time favorites. Find a pair that’s comfortable and stylish, and I promise you’ll wear them on repeat until fall.
Good Designer Handbags
I know not everyone is up for the splurge – and that’s ok! There are many other brands, like House of Want and Topshop, that give you the look at a fraction of the price. I do believe having several handbags in your collection is the key to making great outfits!
