Age doesn’t matter when it comes to style!
I’ve said it many times over the years, and I still firmly believe age doesn’t matter when it comes to style. We can all be youthful when it comes to our own personal style! For example, we all (younger and older) purchase the same denim; yet we can each style it differently, and still look and feel good. In fact, I’ve noticed that my daughter – Em “steals” from me all the time. These days when something goes missing, I immediately accuse Emily (only to find it later in my own pile of things 😂 ) However, I know I’m not alone because some of my friends with daughters are experiencing the same thing. Who would have thought??
Today’s post is all about the things we both love, and specifically, the things Em regularly “steals” from me (I kind of take it as a compliment). I don’t know about you guys, but I rarely swiped anything from my mom. I guess styles are different these days, and we actually want to wear what our daughters wear — and vice versa! Remember you can wear anything you want and not worry about whether it’s “age-appropriate.” Just make it your own 🙂

I used to wear my blazer during the day over a t-shirt and jeans — it’s definitely a go-to outfit for me, and I’m excited to start wearing it out again. Lately I’ve noticed Emily wearing her blazer out at night, which proves it’s an important and versatile piece for both day and night. While I prefer more fitted blazers, she’s favoring oversized blazers right now. So far she’s stayed away from my Veronica Beard one, which I wear often. Right now, a white blazer is on my own list and so is a pretty color, I’ll let you know what I end up with. Here are our current blazer picks!

#3 Strappy sandals
As you can see in the above photo, the Zara sandals I picked up last year went missing, only to find out she “borrowed” them. I got them back but then yesterday I noticed they disappeared again!! Good thing I’m pretty low-key about these things. Clearly you can see we both love a strappy sandal! These are my recent purchase, and I love them so much, I decided to get a lower heel, wear-all-the-time style.
#4 Camis
We both choose camis for layering under blazers or cardigan sweaters. This Halogen one is a favorite, and it’s only $49 – such a deal! We also love CamiNYC, Equipment and Zadig & Voltaire.
#5 slip dresses
A slip dress is so so versatile and timeless. It can be dressed down with a simple white shirt tied high to show your waist, or you can throw a blazer or even a denim jacket over it. Emily has several colors that I often see her wear, and I love this super flattering, beautiful black one from Vince!
#6 Denim jackets
Levi’s denim jacket – Ex-Boyfriend style
We both wear denim jackets on a regular basis – for years. Em likes a little more cropped and oversized, while I prefer slightly oversized and not cropped!

Gold jewelry is our favorite, and we really like Monica Vinader bracelets (like this one or this one). For awhile, she “borrowed” my beloved Poppy Finch every day. I have that one back now, which explains why I’ve worn it in every single photo over the past year! We also love the brand Missoma, Brinker & Eliza and anything that can be personalized, like this necklace we both own!
#8 Handbags
Emily loves every handbag that makes it into my closet. For a graduation present I promised her a splurge handbag, and she’s still trying to decide which one! Some possibilities include this one, this one or this one.
#9 Charlotte Tilbury
We’re both big fans of Charlotte Tilbury, and between my $100 splurge Magic Cream and the Pillowtalk eye palette that went missing for months, it’s safe to say these are favorites we both love and wear all the time! See more beauty favorites here.
#10 Candles and perfume
For birthdays and Christmas, I usually buy her favorite Jo Malone perfume (her signature scent) and this Diptyque candle. Well, before I know it, it’s gone, and she’s back in my room swiping my favorite Diptyque candle, or this one by Le Labo! The latest fragrance we both love is this cult-favorite, can’t keep on the shelves is this one by Maison Frances Kurkdjian Paris. It’s so good, I think you’ll really like it!
