Rediscover the joy of getting dressed!
For the first time in over a year, there seems to be a feeling of optimism in the fashion industry, and clothes are being designed for a post-lockdown world. I’m talking about revenge heels (!!), joyful dresses, escapism, and lots of pretty colors 🙂 In other words, fun, upbeat clothes to help you rediscover the joy of getting dressed again. I don’t know about you, but it feels like a welcome change from sweats and loungewear!
Today’s post is about appreciating the simple pleasure of getting dressed in the morning. I’m talking about the little things, like wearing pretty undergarments or taking a second to spritz your favorite perfume. Or even choosing a dress that we actually might wear for a special occasion … and just wearing it out to lunch! Every day I receive messages from many of you telling me how important it is to have a wardrobe that works, and how it gives you confidence to look stylish and put together. Well spring is in the air and summer is around the corner, so let’s get ready! As always, I’m here to answer any questions you may have or to make recommendations — whatever you need. #1 Start with new bras and panties

After a year of wearing comfy and practical bras, I decided it was time to buy one that’s pretty (and a little bit sexy). I came home with this Natori Feathers bra (the #1 selling bra at Nordstrom) and this Natori Cherry Blossom lace bra. (They’re both “plunge” bras with great reviews.) And, because fresh panties are a small luxury as well, I grabbed a few Natori Bliss thongs, and this Spanx panty with lace. In case you need a strapless bra, I highly recommend this one. If you’d like a convertible style bra, this one is a favorite. There’s nothing like having pretty matching bras under all our nice outfits every single day!
#2 Treat yourself to a new fragrance
Recently a friend asked about my favorite fragrances. After she tried several, her husband surprised her with a bottle of Coco Mademoiselle. The first thing she texted me was “I forgot about the simple pleasure of wearing perfume.” Since I have a little obsession with fragrance, I spray on something most days, and here are some new favorites, including two recent splurges – this one by Diptyque and Rose Prick by Tom Ford.
#3 Dream of a beach vacation
Many of my friends have been going to Mexico and Hawaii — lucky — and I’m continuing to dream about my next vacation! Grab a cool pair of sunnies, a hat and a coverup, and you’ll be the best dressed person around the pool!

#4 Add a special piece of jewelry

I’ve been wearing the same two necklaces for over two years (here and here). So, I decided it was time for an update, and I went searching for a necklace to easily layer with the others. I tried a handful, and finally landed on this perfect link necklace. Also, since I’m obsessed with This is the Last — a cool jewelry line — I’ve wanted to get several more piercings … tasteful ones, of course 😉 But for now, I’m filling up the holes I have with this huggie earring. Trust me, just adding a piece or two gives new life to your jewelry collection!
#5 Buy a pretty dress

Fancy dresses and Occasionwear had no place in our wardrobes last year, but with many events getting rescheduled, now is the time to start looking for a few new dresses. These are dresses you might actually wear to go out, even if it’s just to a casual lunch, happy hour or wine tasting.
#6 Find a bag you love
The key to every single outfit is to finish it off with a great bag. Find one you love and wear it ALL THE TIME, and then put it aside and find another. It sounds extravagant I know, but handbags really complete every outfit — and we wear them every single day!

#7 Look for feminine tops with puff sleeve details
There are so many feminine tops and blouses right now, try pairing one with your favorite jeans. Start by purchasing one in a neutral black or white, or find your favorite color, and go for it!
