3 tips for easy, everyday outfits!

think matchy matchy which is all of a sudden cool again

I think it’s safe to say that many of us want easy outfit combos. We want to confidently throw one on every morning — without having to think about it too much. Accomplishing this can sometimes be tricky, especially if you like shopping and get easily sidetracked 😉 Who hasn’t experienced discovering a cool new ‘something’ and not really knowing how to wear it — but you buy it anyway? It’s probably ok to shop like this, as long as you have all the basics you need. After I wrote about essentials here, many of you wanted to know how to make more outfits with what you already own … so that’s what today’s post is all about!

I’m sharing with you a few style tricks that will help with easy outfit-making. We’re talking simple concepts, like wearing a matching top and jacket, or even matching your accessories. You’ll find that as long as you own these combos, the outfit possibilities are endless! As you know, Nordstrom is always my first go-to for all our favorite essential items. The selection on Nordstrom.com is amazing, with new items being added every single day! Keep reading to see my brand new style boards using three easy tips and style tricks. Let me know how it goes!

#1 Matching top and jacket

Left: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | Right: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9

Matching your top to your jackets is an easy way to make many outfits, and this trick works with every kind of jacket. For example, the black denim jacket and silky cami combo above looks amazing with faded denim, as well as black, ecru or gray denim. If you’re dressing up, just use a black pant like this Vince favorite that’s slimmer fitting (and a little sexy) depending on how it’s styled. It’s an easy trick that works every time!

#2 Matching top and bottom

Left: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Right: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9

If you pair a matching top and bottom, then many “third pieces” will work and you’ll have outfits for days. They can be black/black, cream/ecru, white/white or gray/gray and even denim/denim. Easy, quick and elegant! The frayed edge cami is SO good, I think it’s worth having in two colors. For $49 it looks more expensive than it is! I also love this silky trench jacket — it’s so pretty I decided to try one myself 🙂

#3 Matching bags and shoes

Left: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Right: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 || 9

Neutral accessories are the perfect finishing touch to every outfit. It helps if you have a go-to bag/shoe combo, or a bag/belt combo. or a scarf/bag/shoe combo. I love any accessory in a rich saddle brown (read here) for a blog post on this color) as well as a lighter beige color, and of course black — but that goes without saying! Play around with these combinations and you’ll have many easy outfits at your fingertips. And as always, message me if you need help!
