6 perfect pieces for Parisian style!
The French have their style nailed! Elegant, sophisticated, and always simple … it sounds so easy, but pulling it all together can be somewhat tricky. One of my favorite memories of our trip to Paris several years ago is sitting at a famous sidewalk café in the Saint Germain area, drinking a glass of wine, and just people watching. Not far away was the famous Galeries Lafayette department store, where I snuck off for several hours and wandered slowly throughout the entire store — all 750,000 square feet of it!
Today’s post is all about 6 wardrobe essentials that will give you that “French girl vibe.” Add any one of these items to your look and you’ll feel extra stylish every single day! From cool trench coats to stripes of any kind, these are pieces that will work seamlessly in all of your closets. For quintessential French girl style, stripes of any kind always work. They add the perfect amount of pattern to any outfit. Always classic and always cool, look for striped tees, striped dresses or striped shirting. You can’t go wrong!

#2 Trench coats: A French classic

Right now, a trench coat is THE coat to have for spring. The options are plentiful, and investing in a classic trench will make many many French style outfits. I love this one by J.Crew, this one, and this one too. Wear them with denim and tees, or heels and a nicer dress. You’ll have this piece for years to come!
#3 Simple blazers

Simple blazers are always elegant. Whether it’s a cool black one like my favorite Veronica Beard, or this Chanel inspired one, a well-fitting blazer works most seasons of the year. Take it step further, and look for something tweed. These days the prices are so good, you should get a couple! You’ll wear them on repeat, I promise.

#4 Faux leather anything

Faux leather is always cool, and I especially like it this time of year with white or faded blue denim. Every stylish girl in Paris has at least three faux leather pieces! Look for a shirt that can be worn as a jacket, or a blazer, or leggings. You’ll feel good every time you wear it!
#5 Oversized shirts

Simple shirts that are slightly oversized are so versatile! Push up the sleeves and show off your favorite jewelry. Wear one under any jacket or blazer, and in the summer throw one over your swim suit or a sundress. In Paris, you’ll often see an oversized shirt tied at the waist … so chic!
#6 Maje french-style cardigans
Maje-Paris includes beautifully designed clothing – feminine, understated, and glamorous. If you happen to be in Paris, be sure and visit their flagship boutique located on the Rive Gauche in the 6th arrondissement. In the meantime, Nordstrom carries a large selection 🙂
#6 Veja Sneakers

All the cool French girls are wearing the sustainable sneaker brand Veja. Well-priced (they keep costs down by not advertising) with many style options, these sneakers are must-haves. They often sell out, but I noticed they’re back in stock here and here. I own the V-10 in white/black and have worn them a ton!
#7 The French Always Accessorize with Scarves

Twilly scarves are some of my favorite things. I also adore these ones by Dior, and they’re so pretty tied around your wrist or your favorite bag. Invest in a simple black one like this, or any printed scarf you fall in love with! You will rarely see a Parisian without a scarf tied somewhere 😉
