3 tips for easy, everyday outfits!

I think it’s safe to say that many of us want easy outfit combos. We want to confidently throw one on every morning without having to think about it too much. Accomplishing this can sometimes be tricky, especially if you like shopping and get easily sidetracked 😉 Who hasn’t experienced discovering a cool new something and not really knowing how to wear it — but you buy it anyway? It’s probably ok to shop like this, as long as you have all the basics you need. After I wrote about essentials here, many of you sent me good suggestions for topics you’d like me to cover. You wanted to know how to make more outfits with what you already own … so that’s what today’s post is all about! Thank you, I LOVE hearing from you 🙂

I’m taking some of the essentials I suggested and using them to show you style tricks that will help with easy outfit-making. Over the years, I’ve found that having too many clothes actually makes getting dressed that much harder. Usually, less is more. But the pieces you decide to purchase need to be carefully selected, stylish and versatile. If you want a Zoom Closet Call, click here to read more!

#1 Matching top and jacket

Left: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | Right: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9

Matching your top to your jackets is an easy way to make many outfits, and this trick works with every kind of jacket. For example, the camel jacket and sweater combo above looks amazing with faded denim, as well as black, ecru or gray denim. If you’re dressing up, just use a black pant like this Vince favorite, or this Veronica Beard that’s slimmer fitting (and a little sexy) depending on how it’s styled. Take the same concept and wear a black jacket and black tee with skirts, faded denim, ecru … you get the idea!

#2 Matching top and bottom

Left: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | Right: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

A silky black blouse is one of my favorite things to wear (I love this one!) It works beautifully with so many things and if you happen to love black, it is such an easy go-to if you’re getting dressed up! If you pair a matching top and bottom, then many jackets will work and you’ll have outfits for days. They can be black/black, cream/ecru, white/white or gray/gray. Easy, quick and elegant!

#3 Matching Accessories

Left: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | Right: 1 | 2 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

Neutral accessories are the perfect finishing touch to every outfit. It helps if you have a go-to bag/shoe combo, or a bag/belt combo. or a scarf/bag/shoe combo. I love any accessory in a rich saddle brown (read here for a blog post on this color) as well as a lighter beige color, and of course black — but that goes without saying 🙂 Play around with these combinations and you’ll have easy outfits at your fingertips. And as always, message me if you need help!

  1. This is SO great! Sometimes I try and match other things together tonally (e.g., shoes, sweater, accessories). Is that possible too for options 4-6?

  2. Love all the outfits! Thank you for showing how to wear the same pieces different ways. You are helping me get out of my rut!

  3. Really enjoyed this post! Very helpful when using alongside the basics post! I love these looks because they are so effortless and good looking! Never want to look like it took all my energy just to get dressed! Ha!
