Simple things that will bring you joy … all under $100!

Happy New Year! I’d like to start 2021 by expressing how profoundly grateful I am for the support of my clients, subscribers and followers. Because of you, I’ve been able to continue providing a lighthearted distraction with my blog, and to keep moving forward on this exciting little journey of mine. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’d also like to add a shout-out to my little team (you know who you are). I couldn’t do this without you! My very best wishes to you all for the new year, from the bottom of my heart 🙂

This morning, I crawled out of bed at 6:30 am as usual, and immediately slipped on the comfy slippers I’ve worn non-stop since early March. When I made a b-line to the coffee pot to make my once daily espresso, it occurred to me that the simple things in life bring us a lot of joy. And who can’t use a little more joy these days? Today’s post is about the simple things me and my family absolutely love, and since they’re so good, I’m sharing them with all of you!

P.S. I mistakenly sent out the wrong post yesterday – what a way to start the new year 😂  My apologies! xx

Simply flipping through a coffee table book can make you so happy! And because they’re a small luxury, I purchase them for myself 😉 I tore pages from this John Derian book and framed them in these Pottery Barn frames (wrote about it in this post). Several other books I highly recommend include de Gournay, Hand Painted Interiors, A Great Party and More Beautiful. If you are an Ina Garten fan, you likely already have her latest cookbook Modern Comfort Food. So good!

I might have been the the last person on the planet to actually get an Instant Pot, but I finally did — and we are having lots of fun with it! Tonight’s dinner is Beef Stew, and it’s supposed to take under an hour to make it … which is crazy. And it’ll be delish.

Also finally treated myself to a room diffuser for my office. It’s a great alternative to lighting a candle! This natural oil smells exactly like Le Labo Santal 33, which is delicious.

I purchased this iPad holder for our at-home workouts. I think it’ll be a better option than the chair I’ve been using. Hah!

This rose soap can be found all throughout my house and it smells soooo good. It’s just soap, but everyone loves it.

This personal EKG, recommended by my doctor, brings a certain amount of reassurance and since our health is so important, taking care of ourselves is a top priority.

The Fam

This holiday season, our gifts came from basically two places. The first is our beloved Nordstrom, of course, and the second is the retailer known for “two-day prime.” I know, some people aren’t fans, but I’d be lying if I said we don’t have packages delivered weekly due to straight up laziness on our part! Here’s a highlight with the top items everyone loved, and what will work all year long.

Kids – Em, Jack and Jake

Both boys wanted UGG slippers and cozy blankets, so I ordered this pair and this pair, and they both fit perfectly and are now the shoe of choice. These blankets also turned out to be a hit, and will be used regularly until next Christmas. Em likes to pick out her own things, and this robe and slippers were the winners!

Hubby

Tom got a little sidetracked when checking out online, and some stocking stuffer ideas popped up as “you may like these” … so he added them to cart! I ended up with hand warmers, which I used today, Em got a latte frother, and Jake got a gooseneck phone holder, which actually comes in handy when he’s practicing guitar. Annnd he forgot Jack (lol). But Jack got other things, like the Manscape Lawnmower (use your imagination to figure out what this is). I asked him today if he likes it, and he said “it’s great and the light is helpful.” I thought of a million ways to reply, but I held my tongue 😉

Beauty faves under $100

I’ve discovered the best mask, and everyone I know loves it. One friend told me she has 8 of them and wears a new one every day! I just hand-washed mine and it came out perfectly, so I ordered this one above.

These are the best slippers, and I finally ordered a second pair since mine have seen better days!

A friend alerted me about this deodorant, and it’s the only one I’ve used recently. It’s amazing.

This Redken Diamond Oil Glow Dry is incredible – it smells a little masculine, but makes my hair so soft after blow-drying!

Every now and then a good dupe rounds out your handbag collection. I’ve been surprised at how good this one looks. (I have it in black, but am eyeing the cream).

You’d be surprised at how much you can get into this makeup storage organizer!

This microneedling device was recommended by a hair specialist from the dermatologist’s office after I went in for a hair thinning consult. Been using it ever since. I figure if the GloPRO works for your face, surely there’s a benefit for your scalp!

Thank you for reading, and again, HAPPY NEW YEAR! xx
