Hands down, the 10 best purchases of the year 🙌

… AND THEY’RE STILL AVAILABLE!!

A not-so-secret secret: I try REALLY, REALLY hard to make careful, thoughtful purchases. This is the challenging part of being a personal stylist; every day there’s something new, and it’s very important to be selective. It’s called editing, and though at times it’s quite difficult, it’s worth it! Today I’m sharing with you the ten best purchases of the year. I’m constantly telling all of you to try this and try that, so when I say “trust me” or “this is so good,” I really mean it! My promise to you on this blogging journey is to always be genuine and authentic.

So, looking back on 2020, there are 10 best items that I love enough to recommend them all to you. They have worked perfectly on multiple occasions, with many outfits. And, I guarantee you will wear these 10 items again in 2021. Any of these pieces will complement your wardrobes, and you’ll be very happy with your purchases!

P.S. Click here to read the best purchases of 2019! After re-reading, I was pleasantly surprised to see that most of them are still available. This proves that if we choose wisely, our purchases will have longevity and value!

#1 Givenchy and YSL bags

Left: Halogen cashmere sweater | Mother denim | Booties | Givenchy Handbag | Sunglasses | Necklace | Poppy Finch necklace | Right: Topshop coat | YSL bag | Mother denim | Prada shoe | Free People tee

I really can’t think of anything that gets more wear than a designer handbag. From years of experience, my suggestion is to buy the best bag or two you can. They will elevate all your outfits, and they really complete any look. I know they can be a huge splurge, but considering they get used every day, the cost per wear goes way down 🙂 For designer bags under $1500, my favorites are here, here and here. For a splurge, check out this one by Loewe, this one by Saint Laurent, or this Chloe tote.

#2 Golden Goose Sneakers

Madewell denim jacket | Anthropologie knit dress | Golden Goose sneakers, similar

For a long time, I resisted spending this much on sneakers. But, our lives abruptly changed last March, and sneakers have been my go-to shoes ever since. I initially purchased the Veja V-10’s and wear them when I need a hint of black. The Golden Goose sneakers were a present to myself for a milestone this past August, and no joke, I’ve worn them at least four times a week since! Try either one, they’re classics you’ll love. They’re in stock here, here and here.

#3 Faux leather blazer

Blank NYC blazer | Black sandals | Michael Stars tank | Mother denim | Givenchy bag

It’s hard to believe a $118 blazer can be SO GOOD, but this one really is! You would never know it’s faux, and the style works with just about everything. For awhile it was out of stock, but I just spotted it here and here. I recently added this faux leather shirt jacket, and it’s proving to be another great find. Grab these before they’re gone because faux leather is super popular right now.

#4 Beauty must-haves

Madewell shirt jacket | J.Crew cashmere sweater | Poppy Finch necklace | Mother denim | Giorgio Armani foundation | Pillowtalk blush | Charlotte Tilbury Kidman’s Kiss lipstick

I love trying new beauty products, however, it takes a lot for me to make a switch since there are so many great products out there. I discovered the Colleen Rothschild Cleansing Balm and I’m never going back! It’s a total favorite, and currently on sale (check it out here). The SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic is another can’t-live-without product, and it’s on sale for a limited time here — use code skinc15. If you haven’t tried the SLIP face covering then you’re missing out! It’s so good I purchased it in several colors. It’s also hand washable, so so soft, and it has a cotton liner in between the silk layers. These days it’s the only one I’m wearing! To me, it’s the best mask on the market.

#5 The comfiest bra ever & the Vuori Jogger

Halogen cardigan | Wacoal Comfort Bra | Vuori Jogger

I never really pictured myself getting photographed in a bra — and let me tell you, it’s not easy!! But I’ve loved partnering with Wacoal and am proud that they are known for superior quality and fit, but they’re also a sustainable brand. I’ve tried at least 15 of their bras and my top styles are below:

I had to include the Vuori Jogger for the second year in a row, because there really isn’t a better jogger in my honest opinion! They’re truly the best. Try a pair and message me if you agree 🙂

#6 Anine Bing tees

Left: Madewell jacket | Anine Bing tee | Madewell denim | Bootie | Right: J.Crew red blazer | Anine Bing tee | Mother denim | Booties

Graphic tees are the perfect way to add pattern and interest to every outfit, all year around. Anine Bing tees add just the right amount of coolness to every pair of jeans; I even tried them with this skirt and got tons of compliments! While the eagle one above is currently not available, you can ask to be notified when it’s back in stock. Look here and here for the best current selection. The sweatshirts are super cool too!

#7 Mother denim

Puffer jacket | Mother denim | Golden Goose |Gucci sunglasses | Free People tee | Prada shoes | YSL bag

Mother brand denim is definitely a top go-to for me. One might think I get freebies given all the shout-outs I share, but the truth is I purchase all my own denim. So, it’s worth mentioning that Mother is a favorite! I’ve tried the Looker, the Dazzler, a Slim Straight, Rascal and even a flare (talk about legs that go on for miles). Try Mother denim if you haven’t already, it’s a winner!

#8 Sophie cardigans

Sophie cardigan

One of the best staples at J.Crew, these cardigans go with everything, and it looks like there are a couple of new colors! I love the camel because it looks expensive, and the gray compliments literally anything you wear with it.

#9 Denim jackets

Levi’s ex-boyfriend denim jacket

Up until very recently, I was wearing this slightly oversized denim jacket known as the Ex-Boyfriend. If you prefer a little less oversized, this Madewell is also a favorite. Layer a hoodie underneath and you’ll give your denim jacket an instant update!

#10 Emu slippers & Uggs

These made the top ten list for obvious reasons. They’re cozy and stylish and I recommend them to everyone! The Emu slippers are the only ones I’ve worn since the first week of wfh. Also, I just replenished my Uggs which are the hottest boots out there (AGAIN), seen on every model and celeb you can think of these days. To say this is a comeback brand is an understatement — added bonus that they’re super comfy! If you don’t own a pair, well, it’s time.
