The most popular trend of 2020: 5 styles to try

Leather, both vegan and real, has been one of 2020’s hottest trends and will continue to be popular as we head into 2021. The Hungarian brand, Nanushka, has been a leader when it comes to vegan leather, and has become an Instagram favorite (view recent collections here and here). The great news for all of us is that there are numerous choices available – so many it’s hard to decide! From the beautiful tan leather trench by Vince to the top selling Commando or Spanx leggings, there is something for everyone. This fabric is so luxe, the vegan options  can easily pass for the real thing. Plus, there’s a price point for every budget making it accessible to all of us!

There’s a new leather style I’m adding to my own collection ASAP. I’ve been seeing the leather puffer everywhere, and have decided it’s such a cool piece that I’m putting on my Christmas list. Maybe someone in my family will read this and put it under the tree for me (wink)! Today’s post is about the 5 ways to incorporate this cool-girl trend into your wardrobe, and of course a little style board inspo (coming at 9:15 am – sorry running late!) to go along with it!

Love this gorgeous tan puffer

If you don’t own the Vuori Jogger yet, you’re missing out 🙂

This brand new Rag & Bone scarf goes with everything

#1 Leather puffer jacket

This jacket is at the top of my Christmas list (if I can wait until then), and the ones I’m considering are this one, this one or this one. Abercrombie has a great selection here, I’m also eyeing this one. And I love the idea of a winter white puffer. Lots of options, but this is the cool coat that will up your game as you run to the store … or wherever you may go!

#2 Leather shirt

Good American shirt faux leather shirt | Zimmerman top | Mother denim | Prada pump, similar here | Gucci bag

This shirt, that I’m wearing as a jacket, is thin and drapey which is slimming and flattering. I think it will be perfect for a night out (someday) worn alone and unbuttoned and kind of low, with black denim and a strappy sandal. There are many options out there, so look at this colored style, this one and this one.

#3 Leather dress/jumpsuit

Anthropologie dress | Alexandre Bierman sandals | Faux fur scarf | Givenchy bag

This pretty green dress is a nice departure from all the black, and it makes getting dressed super easy! This past summer, I tried out this jumpsuit, see it here – and someday I’ll try layering a thin turtleneck underneath so I can get extra mileage from it. I love the “one and done” idea of a dress or jumpsuit, and I’ve spotted some good ones — check out this one, this fun and sexy jumpsuit, and this one too!

#4 Leather blazer

I’ve worn this inexpensive blazer over and over again — talk about getting your money’s worth! I love this Frame real leather one, and look at this one and this one too. Wear it over a dress, with denim, with a skirt, with skinny pants like these … the options are endless.

#5 Leather trench

This stylish trench is another great buy I picked up a couple of years ago, and I still love it! I’ve been seeing several versions, like this gorgeous tan color, this black one (and this one too). Wear it with a simple tee underneath, or with a cashmere sweater – this one of course! Or, add your favorite denim and cool booties. Such an easy outfit!

#6 Faux leather leggings (had to include this one!)

J.Crew rain coat | Chelsea 28 sweater | Spanx leggings | Golden Goose sneakers

Pretty much a staple for all! There are endless ways to style this, but one way is with a cool puffer – I’d go non-leather here, with cute combat booties and a Pom Pom hat. If you want to make it a little more elegant, add a strappy sandal like this one, a silky cami and a longer cashmere cardigan like my all-time favorite ATM one!

Thank you for reading! xx

  1. Thanks for Spanx recommendation! I tried Commando leather look leggings – brutally tight. Based on your posts I decided to give Spanx a try – much better!
