Fall trends you’ll actually want to wear!!
September is always an exciting month, and even though New York Fashion Week was a bit unusual this year, there was still plenty of great street style inspo and glimpses of the new trends for fall 2020 that are beginning to emerge. Polo-style sweaters, shirt jackets, the ever-dependable cardigan, and — believe it or not — leather everything are the things to own for the upcoming season. Today’s post is all about fall trends that you’ll actually want to wear, since these days, many of us are shopping a little differently!

#1 Polo-style sweaters
The polo-style sweater trend for fall was one I actually started noticing last spring, and it has been on my radar ever since. As luck would have it, I recently spotted this one at J.Crew and immediately ordered it in 3 colors so I could see them all for myself! And they’re SO good! Unbutton all the way for a more demure look, or give it a half tuck into your favorite denim or skirts or trousers … anything goes because this style is very, very versatile! Other options is this Madewell one, any of these pearl embellished versions and this solid choice by Everlane.
#2 Leather blazers & Jackets (faux or real)
I’ve been wearing this one one repeat, and trust me, it’s a great option. Someone in the Nordstrom Gucci department stopped me to feel it, thinking it was real! It keeps selling out, but this morning I found it here, and it’s available in beige here. Don’t wait on this one … I know you’ll love it! #3 Puff-sleeved tops
I love a good puff-sleeved top, especially if its not too crazy and … puffy! We’re talking wearable here! So, I was excited when I found this one by Free People, and ended up purchasing it in two colors for myself, which I rarely do. It’s super casual and forgiving, and it’s great for layering under cozy cardigans or blazers (it’s also super cute alone). I wore it in the IGTV video yesterday. Some others you’ll like are by Z Supply, and Wayf.
#4 Shirt jackets
I’ve been talking A LOT about shirt jackets in the last couple of weeks. I really can’t think of a more perfect piece to add to our wardrobes, given our new, casual, work-from-home-not-going-out-that much lives. When the time comes, maybe we’ll all go back to fancier clothes. But for now, let’s be casual and stylish! Look at this pretty lilac version, any from BB Dakota, this longer denim style, and this faux fur one too. Find one or two you love and grab them before they sell out! This is one of my favorite new trends for fall 2020.
#5 Plaid blazer/jacket
As you might have noticed, oversized plaid blazers and jackets are having a moment this season! They’re such an easy piece to add since they go with basically everything. Sneakers, your favorite denim, booties, faux leather leggings … the options are endless. I picked up this unlined plaid jacket and wore it in the IGTV video. I also think Madewell blazers are well-priced and super cute. You don’t need to spend a lot, but adding one will refresh everything!
#6 Cardigans
Another basic staple that’s all of a sudden back again, but styled differently is a cardigan. There are endless options, but the style I’m talking about is a button front that’s often either partially tucked into your denim, OR worn with a matching knit sweater tank. Be careful when layering over a tee; make sure and wear a cool bootie or a shoe, otherwise it could look a little frumpy! I wore this one in the IGTV video, Other Stories has some pretty styles with unique buttons, and I spotted this SUPER COOL one this morning!
