One layering piece that works with every outfit

I’m officially declaring the cami to be the one and only layering piece you need for every outfit you own! If you have a jacket, a cardigan or a blazer sitting in your closet, the cami is the perfect basic to go under it. This simple little number has staying power because it works all year round, thereby making it the ultimate wardrobe staple. And if you’re running a little cold, throwing on a cashmere scarf will quickly solve that problem!

Some of my all-time favorite brands include CamiNYC, L’agence, Equipment and Paige. With so many types of camisoles available for different events, it can be a little overwhelming, which is why I’m passing on a few tips here! Keep reading to find out the best styles you should buy.

P.S. We’ve had a little explosion of growth lately, so if you’re new around here and want to stay up to date on all things stylish and the bound-to-sell-out items we ALL need, then subscribe here and never miss a post! You can also follow me on Instagram here.

#1 Printed camis

Selecting a simple, patterned cami can add just the right amount of detail to our outfits. And typically, in my experience, blouses and camis like the ones I’m showing below have the most lasting power in our wardrobes.

#2 simple, elegant, solid camis

If you only purchase one cami, go with solid black or ivory. These camis by Frame are such a good value! The weighty silk, cut on the bias, is very very flattering, and the frayed edge detail is a nice touch. I own the ivory one (I wrote about them here) and, with its adjustable straps, it’s good for us petite ladies.

#3 The best cami under $59

This cami is truly one of the best out there, and the price is incredible! It’s offered in two styles you’ll see below, and is very similar to the beloved Frame one I talk about all the time. You can’t go wrong with these, and at this price you should stock up!

#4 lace details

Sometimes adding a little lace detail can be a bit sexy, but still very tasteful when layered under a sweater or a blazer. CamiNYC makes my favorite lace camis — they’re beautiful!

#5 under $100 camis

Sometimes you don’t want to spend a lot, which is why I’ve included some affordable options. Plus, it’s a great way to try this staple item and see how you like it!
