There are certain pieces in our wardrobes that are VERY IMPORTANT to have because they complete almost every outfit. The items I’m talking about can be worn most seasons and for years, which makes them a worthwhile investment. And since many designers are delivering their pre-fall collections (I know, I know we’re in the midst of summer! But now is when it happens) AND the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is still in full force, now is the perfect time to add these to your closets!

1. The Leather jacket

This is one of the most important pieces to own now and for fall and beyond. Why? Because it can be worn all year round! It works equally as well with jeans, sneakers and a tee as it does over a dress and heels to go out. This Vince leather jacket is ON SALE and might be my #1 favorite from the #nsale that I’m certain will sell out any day now. 2. The LBB

The LBB – or Little Black Bag – is a crucial item to own right now.  I got this Gucci super mini Marmont bag and have worn it EVERY DAY since I bought it; over the weekend, to work, tossed in my tote, to an event … everywhere.  For a lower priced favorite, look at this one – it  looks way more expensive than it is!

3. Camisoles

This is the perfect layering piece that goes under everything, from denim jackets to structured blazers, to cozy cardigans.  And, it’s a little sexy in a tasteful kind of way 😉 The Frame silk cami I’m wearing in the above photo is a favorite, and worth the splurge.  I’m also really excited about the brand CamiNYC, which has delicate lace details and offered in the prettiest colors.  You can’t go wrong with these by ATM, and for great sale options, look here.

4. Strappy Sandals

A street style favorite over the past few seasons, this is THE sandal that will give everything in your wardrobe an update.  They work well with dresses of course,  and just as well with jeans.  A warning though, the ones I’m wearing in the above photos in white and black didn’t work for me because the strap wouldn’t stay up. THESE are what I’m trying now, and I’ve picked some other great options for you, all inspired by this shoe from The Row splurge brand!  A strappy sandal will always elevate your outfit, and they’re super stylish right now. Get a pair!

5. Black ankle denim

Black is always a classic denim color to have in our wardrobes, and I’m sure we all have ones we love from previous seasons. But, the ONE STYLE that looks the most current right now is a straight leg (though I personally prefer a slimmer straight, like this one).  If you haven’t made the switch out of your skinnies, this style is worth a try because it will give your wardrobe a nice little update as we head into fall!
