ROOM 3 REPORT: WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THIS?
My work office, or “Room 3,” happens to be a dressing room where I meet my friends and clients to help them figure out what to buy and how to wear it. Over the years in Room 3, there have been hundreds of friendships formed, laughter and tears, secrets, job changes, loved ones lost, kid things … oh, and clothes! While helping all of you goes WAY beyond the actual clothes, let’s face it, we do get pretty excited when we find things we love!
Since I try on clothes for a living …
And I take mirror selfies along the way, I thought it would be a good idea to start regularly sharing some of my finds. Recently, I wrote a blog post on the “one simple trick to help you feel put together,” which was about taking mirror selfies. And much to my surprise, you all really liked it!! Who would have thought these (mostly) unedited dressing room pics would be so popular? So …
HERE’S THE FIRST EDITION OF THE ROOM 3 REPORT!
Today’s Room 3 Report is on dresses we LOVE. I think a dress (any style) should be your go-to for every summer outing. Whether you’re going to Saturday market, a sporting event or out to dinner, find a dress you love, and wear it. Dresses are one and done, easy, and so so comfy! #1 Lafayette 148 dress
Lafayette 148 is one of my favorite brands currently, and boy they do dresses REALLY well! This one is a beautiful crepe fabric with a slight A-line, and is the perfect desk-to-drinks dress. I couldn’t decide what to do with the tie, which is why I included both photos. I’d say either works!!
#2 ALC tie dye silk dress
This midi-length style looks good on everyone, from 5’0” to my taller friends. I love the belted waist, which is difficult to see, but very flattering. And of course the tie dye trend is having a moment this summer!
#3 theory linen shirtdress
Shirtdresses are everywhere this season and this Theory one is a favorite. It is linen, and it will get a little wrinkled. But I still highly recomend it as it’s an easy work dress, or running around doing errands with flat sandals kind of dress. It also comes in navy which I love so much, except we didn’t have my size because it SOLD OUT! Always a good sign.
#4 Rag and Bone dress
I love this dusty rose sundress by Rag and Bone. It has contrast piping and button details down the side, and feels a little retro which is super cool. It runs a little slim around the waist band. I would need a shapewear panty if leaving the dressing room!
#5 Club Monaco dresses
Club Monaco is coming out with the best dresses lately, and the prices are reasonable! The flowy white dress on the left has an interesting hemline, and adjustable side ties. The belted denim style on the right is an ecru color and is arm flattering due to the cut away around the shoulders. These dresses run large. I’m wearing size 2 in both and usually I’m a size 4.
#6 Rag and Bone mini dress
Accurately described as a mini dress, it is a little on the short side. The A-line silhouette and drapery fabric, with a half belt at the waist, make this dress super flattering.
#7 Rebecca Taylor linen wrap dress
Brand new this week is Rebecca Taylor’s striped linen wrap dress. It has a hidden tie at the bottom to keep the dress from flying open — so smart! It’s the perfect summer dress to wear everywhere, from lunch with friends to a bbq to happy hour!
#8 Boden floral wrap dress
This midi length wrap dress is perfect for summer. Boden also comes in petite sizes, available here. This one was way too long for me, so a petite size would be perfect, or a wide hem!!
#9 Veronica Beard dress
I love most of the Veronica Beard dresses I try on. These are known for just the right amount of rouching, which can hide a few things! This one is super soft because it’s made from cotton t-shirt knit fabric. I’m wearing an xs.
#10 Rails dresses
Rails dresses just might be my personal favorite brand for easy, wear – everywhere summer dresses. Made from the softest cotton or linen, they’re super comfortable, making them an easy choice for hot summer days. I’ve tried on most every style of Rails dress and I love them all. This was the one that came home with me! I wrote about it here.
