This New Year’s Eve, I plan to be celebrating with friends at home wearing this simple silk Vince dress.  And crossing my fingers I can stay up until midnight.  (I’ve been known to not make it!) Which got me thinking, how can we dress up for a New Year’s Eve gathering yet also wear our new purchases into the new year?  Many of us are tired of anything red and green and sparkly, so finding party attire that takes us into the new year can be a little tricky.

As I started perusing Pinterest and shopping my favorite websites, it’s pretty clear that metallic or silk anything is the perfect substitute for sequins and sparkly details.  I have my eye on this exquisite ALC leopard dress, and these metallic jeans are uber cool.  Whether it’s a metallic skirt or a shimmery duster, this surprisingly versatile trend can feel understated, which is sometimes the perfect way to show up to any party.  Don’t get me wrong – I love sparkles of any kind.  But any excuse to try something different, well, I’m all in.
