This post is for my dear friend Ter, and for everyone else who struggles to get dressed and wants the simplicity of a wardrobe capsule. You see, we all have our strengths, and Ter can write like no other — fixing my grammar and sentence structure in no time, and having the message sound like me (she’s editing this as we speak)! BUT she can’t seem to get dressed without my help, and is constantly telling me she has nothing to wear every time we get ready to go out! Secretly I’ll tell you, there are things hanging in her closet from last year that still have the tags on! OMG.
Sooo … I decided to try again and see if I can help her (and anyone else who needs it) find great pieces that are versatile, seasonless and most importantly, easy to throw together. Hopefully purchasing these key items will help solve the “nothing to wear” problem so she can effortlessly get dressed for the next few months and beyond.

Start with these three pieces
A blazer can be worn year round and works with literally everything in your wardrobe. From a sequined dress to denim, this is the key starting piece of a capsule wardrobe. This Madewell one is on price match and this Veronica Beard is also a favorite as I wrote about here. Add a bootie like this Stuart Weitzman, also on price match, and you have the start of an awesome capsule wardrobe.
Add a leather jacket, white tee and black skinnies
Having the perfect leather jacket is also critical to the capsule. Why? Because it goes seamlessly from jeans and sneakers to a cocktail dress.
